Hate school, love school, it’s compulsory and it’s very important that we get the very best education available. So, we try our hardest, knuckle down and concentrate. But before and during all that, what really is ‘the best way to educate’ our fluffy and absorbent minds?
First of all, teachers must plan their lessons whilst initially engaging their students and keeping them engaged. Whilst taking into consideration all the abilities of the students, it seems to be that the preferred way to educate students is through an interactive method. Teachers need something where they can keep track of their students and the progression in which they are making but maybe also somewhere they can file important documents and data. Taking all this onboard as a student myself I am fulling aware of other issues that take place in the classroom when someone is falling behind or struggling with work and the teacher has to attend to their needs. This becomes an issue as everyone else lags behind, which is why is it great to have an assistant teacher at hand to be patrolling if and when someone needs help. So we need something to help them, right?
Hurrah, here come Pearson Publishers! Pearson Publishing (amongst other publishers) have created the tools in which will help teachers and students achieve the perfect balance to teach and learn in. ActiveTeach 2.0 is a front of class software system that allows teachers to bring their lessons to life! ‘A powerful electronic learning resource that combines innovative teaching materials with the flexibility to introduce your own resources’. (Sheikh, 2014). This software is a great place for teachers to improve their lessons and store data in order to keep data up to date with all their students this is made possible by the next piece of software.
ActiveLearn - ‘a motivating and supportive online independent learning resource for the classroom and at home… (it) is Pearson's online digital service that supports the learner’. (Sheikh, 2014). ActiveLearn is something that the students can use at home or during lessons whichever is preferred by the teacher. It is a way in which the teacher can actively proceed to hand out homework and collectively gain data on the system that will notify them which students are struggling or doing well. This is a great way to ensure that no student lags behind when in class or doing homework on a specified area of topic.
However there are plenty of barriers to introducing technology into the world of education. Developments in technology have a lot of reluctance towards them as we as humans fear the unknown, this stems from lack of knowledge about what they are using. Other issues are also the costing to fill schools with the right technology to aid them in their journey, but also the costing to gift them in skills and knowledge to use the software.
